Kevin Pinson, Special Leasing and Marketing Representative for Colony Square Mall, said there is a lot of construction planned for 2017.
Pinson said T.J. Maxx and Shoe Carnival are two stores you can expect to see in the mall in the future.
“Probably as soon as this month, you’ll see some construction begin as we prepare the spaces for these two tenants to move in at different times later this year,” said Pinson.
Both stores are currently located at Northpointe Center on Gorsky Drive.
Pinson said T.J. Maxx will be a 22,000-square-foot store located in the center of the mall where Vintage Rescue formerly was.
“The T.J. Maxx will also have an exterior entrance which will dress up the front of the mall as well,” said Pinson. “It is expected to open by 2018.”
Shoe Carnival will be located by Elder Beerman, and will be a 7,500-square-foot store according to Pinson.
“They’re hoping to be open by back to school time,” said Pinson.
Colony Square Mall was recently sold to New York real estate firm, Time Equities Inc., last month.
Pinson said leasing efforts have increased and they expect to see some more new tenants down the road.
“I would say if you come back within a year you’re going to see some big changes at the center. Things are still in the planning stages so we can’t really discuss in detail yet, but I think you’re going to see a new and improved Colony Square Mall,” said Pinson.
